What is Wireless local area network?

A wireless local area network is a sharing method for two or more devices. The wireless local area network has an access point and uses high-frequency radio waves. It connects devices and communicates wirelessly.

W(LAN) can support hundreds of devices. When one or more repeaters are added it can be easily extended. It can easily upgrade the old ethernet to the new version.

Pros and cons of Wireless local area network

For its setup, WLAN uses two fundamental transmission mechanisms. Both radio and infrared technology are used for transmission. Since it needs a clear line of sight and can be readily blocked by objects in its path, infrared technology is no longer employed. Infrared is hence unreliable. Wireless technologies, however, are susceptible to noise and interference. The interference may be brought on by weather issues, such as rain or thunder. This communication is highly susceptible to noise and interference.

Unauthorized access is frequent and communication is not always secure.
A license is necessary.
